Review Methodology
How we choose, rank, and write about RC products. Last reviewed: May 16, 2026.
What we look at
- Terrain fit — does the vehicle/tire/setup match where the buyer will actually drive?
- Beginner-friendliness — controls, training modes, parts availability, manual quality.
- Parts availability — replacement arms, body clips, tires, gears stocked by major retailers.
- Durability — chassis material, suspension geometry, gear strength under realistic abuse.
- Battery / charger fit — does the included or recommended pack and charger pair safely with the ESC?
- Upgrade potential — is the aftermarket strong, and what’s the realistic ceiling?
What we don’t rank by
- List price (it changes constantly).
- Marketing speed claims.
- Aggregated star ratings (we link out so readers see live ratings).
Update cadence
Buying guides get reviewed at least twice a year. Battery and safety pages are reviewed quarterly. Each page shows its last-reviewed date.
Errors and conflicts
If a recommendation changes, the page gets a dated update note. If an editor receives a free product, that’s disclosed on the page. We do not accept money to change rankings.
